TMF stands for Turbine Mid Frame.This is a structural component located in the middle of the turbine engine of a McDonnell Douglas DC-10.
Eight threaded studs had to be welded onto this part. These studs are made from Inconel 718, a superalloy capable of withstanding extreme heat.
